Great Weekend at the Home Internationals

Following the success of the Championships, most of the squad took a break and enjoyed their win, but for three members of ULRC\'s men\'s squad, there was no rest. Andrew Hurley, Stephen Penny and Liam Rice jumped right into training for the Home Internationals Regatta, which is a regatta between Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England, held in Cork this past weekend. It was a great honour for the boys, this being Andrew Hurley\'s first time representing Ireland and Rice and Penny\'s second time. The fruits of their labour paid off once again with a great result at the weekend. Andrew Hurley\'s boat came second in the Mens Lightweight Double Scull and Rice and Penny\'s boats, the Mens Under 23 Coxless Four and Mens 8+, were both won convincingly. This has been an incredibly successful month for the three, who were in both the winning Intermediate 4+ and 8+ and will spur on future successes for them in the sport. ULRC would like to thank the UL Students Union and the Sports Department for funding the levies for the three boys, all University of Limerick students. Without this help they might not have been able to participate in the Home Internationals. more >>>
